Potable Water storage facilities & Pipelines disinfection:
The most common way of disinfecting a potable water tanks or pipelines is by using chlorine. Chlorine is delivered in a different solid forms (60-90% Calcium m hypochlorite formula) or even liquid form (Sodium hypochlorite 12%)
Swimming Pools disinfection:
Swimming pool usually contains many microorganisms from different sources. If it doesn't inhibited or disinfected, it will be a source of cross contamination. So, it must be disinfected correctly.
The most common disinfectant is also the chlorine with it different forms e.g: hypochlorous acid (HOCL) or hypochlorite (OCL-)
Other chemicals are added to the swimming pool either to adjust the pH or as flocculant and algaecide.
UV water treatment:
Ultraviolet water disinfection: is the most effective method for disinfecting bacteria from water. Ultraviolet (UV) rays penetrate harmful pathogens in the water and destroy illness-causing microorganisms by attacking their genetic core (DNA).
- Further filtration process can be added after the UV unit to remove the pathogenic remaining bodies.
Ozone Water Treatment:
Ozone is the most effective way to disinfect water against bacteria and viruses compared to chlorination. Also, it has oxidizing properties which can oxidize the soluble ions such as Iron, Sulfur and manganese to its elemental form so as to be easily removed by post filtration.
Ozone is usually unstable for long time. But recent researches discovered new ways for stabilizing the Ozone for long periods which may increase its durability and so its efficiency.
