Reverse Osmosis

Reverse osmosis (RO) systems can often improve the quality of water.

The reverse osmosis water treatment method has been used extensively used to convert brackish or seawater to drinking water, to clean up wastewater, and to recover dissolved salts from industrial processes. It is becoming more popular in the home market as homeowners are increasingly concerned about contaminants that affect their health, as well as about non-hazardous chemicals that affect the taste, odor, or color of their drinking water.

People considering the installation of a water treatment system to reduce toxic chemicals should first have their water tested to determine how much dissolved salts are found and if any hazardous compounds are in the water.

Removing water salinity:

Reverse osmosis (RO) treatment reduces the concentration of dissolved salts and minerals. So, it is commonly used to desalinate brackish and sea water from the dissolved salts such as Sodium Chloride and hardness salts.

This method of desalination is considered to be the most efficient method of desalination concerning small and medium size desalination plants.

Reducing contaminants through RO

Chemical contamination:

RO treatment reduces the concentration of dissolved solids, including a variety of ions and metals and very fine suspended particles such as asbestos that may be found in water

Also, RO removes certain organic contaminants, some detergents, and specific pesticides.

Microbiological contamination:

Although RO membranes can remove virtually all microorganisms, it is currently recommended that only microbiologically-safe water (i.e., Coliforms negative) be fed into RO systems.

Some RO systems may be used for removing waterborne protozoan cysts (such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia) found in surface drinking water supplies. But only treatment systems certified for cyst reduction by NSF, (an International nonprofit agency that tests health-related products) should be used for this purpose.

Reverse osmosis will not remove all gaseous contaminants from water. Dissolved gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide pass through RO membranes into the treated water.

RO systems can be certified by NSF for VOCs, THMs, and several pesticides and solvents if the contamination is not too high.

In Rowatic, we design, construct and implement perfectly these types of Desalination plants with different sizes. These plants are used in the Industry, touristic and even in hospital fields.

Besides, Rowatic can design and erect pre-treatment filtration system used to protect RO system.

We uses different high quality brands to construct our plants, and guarantee our projects after start up, offering long-term after sales services to ensure our customers complete satisfaction.
